OUR MODEL
WHAT WE DO
We engage communities affected by cycles of violence in exploring pathways to achieve positive peace. We work with communities by offering programs on trauma awareness, restorative justice, as well as women and youth leadership development. We hold the belief that peace can be achieved by addressing conflicts at various levels, including personal, interpersonal, and communal relationships.
WE WORK TO CULTIVATE PEACE AND SUPPORT COMMUNITIES TO TRANSFORM CONFLICT THROUGH:
PSYCHOSOCIAL TRAUMA AWARENESS & SUPPORT
This program takes a communal and holistic approach in addressing trauma and resilience. Drawing on knowledge from trauma science, conflict transformation, restorative justice, as well community/indigenous knowledge around trauma, communities get to also explore the possibilities of collective healing.
RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
Restorative justice aims to address harm and conflict by offering a space to address victims’ needs, offenders’ needs and community needs as well as the responsibilities of each. Even as we find healing for victims, what does justice mean to many people?” We work with law enforcement, including prosecutors, judges, and magistrates, to give them a different perspective of how to approach violence and to prevent violence using trauma healing approaches, or just being trauma-sensitive during their proceedings. The aim of this program is for individuals and communities to move towards justice in a way that might restore peace in relationships.
PEACE EDUCATION & RESEARCH
By integrating interdisciplinary research, experiential learning, and community ancestral as well as indigenous knowledge, the program aims to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and resolve conflicts peacefully.
PEACE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
We offer this need-based program with grassroots community leaders especially women and youth to transform their peacebuilding and problem-solving skills. This program focuses on enhancing women and young people’s roles in conflict resolution and peacebuilding by offering customised programs based on the needs of the community.
